It’s been another busy week here on Hayara. Rejik and I think we’re on the edge of a breakthrough; There are too many possible similarities in the syntax of the hieroglyphs for whatever ancient language this is to be unrelated to modern Hayari. As for the analysis of the symbols themselves, any links between them early modern Hayari are a lot more subjective. The lack of proof of intermediate development makes it difficult to confirm any possible connection.

Kejata, unknown to me, invited Carmen and Tirik to visit the site yesterday, which caused mixed reactions. I could tell Professor Harjin wasn’t pleased to have strangers ‘intruding’ on his site, but after I assured him they were Starfleet officers, he seemed to accept their presence, even if he did carry on grumbling under his breath. I think my friends enjoyed the visit. Kejata’s witty remarks certainly kept Tirik entertained, though I think a couple of the cultural references were lost on Carmen.
