Intelligence Report 01

//Starship Intelligence Report, USS Boston, Stardate 40931.4//
//Level 4//
Regarding: Hostile Contact (Orion Syndicate), Farius System.
Summary:
1. The ORION SYNDICATE appears unaware of our possession of the BIO-MIMETIC GEL.
2. The FARIUS PORT AUTHORITY is working in conjunction with a group of Syndicate raiders to target trade coming in and out of FARIUS PRIME.
3. The FARIUS PORT AUTHORITY and KUJIY is likely aware the shuttlecraft ROCINATE
Main Body:
1. The Syndicate boarders were beamed directly to Medical, and immediately went for our medical supplies in a smash and grab operation. As they were targeting the Rocinate [1] we can deem that they had gotten a hold of the ships manifest of Medical supplies. It can be surmised the Captain of the Syndicate Ships continued on with the strike as he weighed his need for the supplies outweighed the risk of attacking a Starfleet Cruiser. His need for them surmised from the state of his ships, which were in a state of disrepair that would be considered unworthy by Syndicate Specifications (in addition his crewman expressed repulsion when asked about the state of the ship [2]) , suggesting the Captain and Crew have been down on their luck when it comes to funding.
[1] [Audio Log] Unidentified Orion Male: We weren't after a Federation ship. This was supposed to be a small shuttle!
[2] [Audio Log] Lieutenant Jääskeläinen: Your Captain was bold to go meet with them, given the state of his ship.
Unidentified Orion Male: I hope I never have to step foot on his scow again!
2. This could be assumed on the grounds that the Syndicate maintains control over Farius Prime, any ship whom comes and goes without the protection of the Syndicate may become the target of the Syndicate. However we can also more concretely understand this was the nature of the engagement as we intercepted communications [1] between the Syndicate ships and the Farius Port Aurthority. Though we were unable to attain the contents, we can logically move to assume the Captain was expressing his displeasure at being met with a Starfleet Cruiser instead of a small shuttle. Equally when interrogated the Orion Crewman seems to have correlated that they were informed of the shuttle by someone [male] who works at the Farius Port Authority [2].
[1]
[2] [Audio Log] Unidentified Orion Male: I don't know his name! Just that he works for the Farian Port Authority
3. Extrapolating from the above, the Farius Port Authority is likely aware that the Rocinate is based out of the USS Boston. Considering the communication between the Synidcate Vessels and the Port Authority, and its length. The Port Authority will be aware of at least some kind of link between the Boston and the Rocinate. This information is likely to have been slipped to Kujiy through either the Syndicate Captain [1[ or the Port Authority themselves [2].
[1] [Audio Log] Commander Raj: Yes, Kujiy's. [Confidently]
Unidentified Orion Male: All Syndicate crews attend his parties. It's where Facers gather to make new
contacts with each Captain.
[2] [Audio Log] Unidentified Orion Male: Velires? Never heard of him. [To Commander Raj] Kujiy? He facilitates all the smuggling in Kohol District. He provides security, and takes a cut of all transactions in the port.
Conclusion:
While we can remain confident that the Syndicate and Kujiy is unaware of our possession of the Bio-mimetic gel, we should work under the assumption the basis of a link between the Rocinate and the Boston has been formed by the Port Authority and the Rocinate and anyone previously associated with her may come under closer scrutiny and watch by the Port Authority and Kujiy's men. Given the extent to which we damaged his ships and potentially reputation it is unlikely the Syndicate ships we fought will be returning. In the event they do return, given the Syndicates use of revenge killings to dissuade disloyalty, it will likely come in the form of a smash and grab seeking to return our prisoner to their ship.

F-2//Level 4//Interrogation Transcript (Unidentified Orion Male):
[Recording Starts]
---: Hello!
Commander Raj: Oh, well that's quite the mouthful. I'll just call you Ans. *Clearing her throat* We know you were looking for medical supplies and replicators. We want to know who told you that. Why you thought we had them.
Ensign T'Rena: Sir, I suggest we try known truth serums to easier get the answer we need
---: Truth serums, Rena? We'll make a Romulan of you yet
Commander Raj: [Holding up her hands to T'Rena and Drela] Let him answer.
Ensign T'Rena: They are not considered to be torture methods, just more efficient ways to get the answers one seek miss ---.
Commander Raj: Ahhh... now I see. And who told you about this shuttle?
Unidentified Orion Male: We weren't after a Federation ship. This was supposed to be a small shuttle!
Unidentified Orion Male: Why do you care, Starfleet? You are not the target, this was a mistake!
Commander Raj: *She puts her hands on her hips* Because we know who the target was.
---: So, when you found the Federation ship and NOT a small shuttle, a heavy cruiser at that, what profound stupidity made you go
---: A'ight, let's have a go, then?
Ensign T'Rena: Then why did you attack a ship when your scans would clearly show that it was not a shuttle on your scanners?
Unidentified Orion Male: Then why don't you enlighten me, Starfleet? *Leering again at Jaya before turning to Drela* My Captain's stupidity. He will be losing his ship after this!
Commander Raj: *Shakes her head* We don't answer your questions, you answer ours. This target is someone we'd prefer stay safe. Who told you about the shuttle.
---: I don't think this one has anything we need, Commander. Other than dumber by association.
Unidentified Orion Male: And what do I get if I answer /your/ questions, Starfleet?
Lieutenant Jääskeläinen: A nice letter that will help you out a great deal when you are tried.
Commander Raj: Well if you don't answer them, then you'll be put in a Starfleet prison for the rest of your life for attempting to destroy a starfleet vessel. If you do, then we'll write you a nice letter as my dear friend here just pointed out. She's got quite a nice signature, the judges love it.
Ensign T'Rena: Indeed, like the lieutenant said, by helping us, you are helping yourself
Unidentified Orion Male: Maybe a letter, and dropping me off on the nearest inhabited system not infested with Syndicate slime!
Commander Raj: That can be arranged. Now I need a name.
---: Hang on
---: "Syndicate slime"?
---: You are not Orion Syndicate?
Unidentified Orion Male: [Eyes Narrow] Of course I am. But do you think most who work for the Syndicate do so willingly?
---: I never thought that.
---: Nevermind then
Commander Raj: So a name. [Impatiently]
Unidentified Orion Male: A name? A neme of what?
Commander Raj: Who. Told. You. Of. The. Shuttle.
Unidentified Orion Male: I don't know his name! Just that he works for the Farian Port Authority
Lieutenant Jääskeläinen: What was the name of the shuttle you were meant to attack?
Commander Raj: [Pinching the bridge of her nose] Alright. [Letting it go] One last thing. A concert. Do you know anything about it?
Unidentified Orion Male: What, you mean the party at Kujiy's stronghold?
Commander Raj: Yes, Kujiy's. [Confidently]
Unidentified Orion Male: All Syndicate crews attend his parties. It's where Facers gather to make new contacts with each Captain.
Lieutenant Jääskeläinen: Your Captain was bold to go meet with them, given the state of his ship.
Commander Raj: Naturally. Do you recall any Vulcans being there?
Unidentified Orion Male: Sure. Vulcans, Rigellians, Humans, Farians, Orions, Caitians, Trill...
---: Hmmm
Ensign T'Rena: Sir, he might still be lying or withholding information, I suggest either using a lie detector or a truth serum to eliminate any doubt and keep interrogating him further
Unidentified Orion Male: I hope I never have to step foot on his scow again!
Commander Raj: Can you tell me about this Kujiy?
---: And have you ever met anyone named Velires?
Unidentified Orion Male: Velires? Never heard of him. [To Commander Raj] Kujiy? He facilitates all the smuggling in Kohol District. He provides security, and takes a cut of all transactions in the port.
Commander Raj: Like Nausicaans?
Commander Raj: Nausicaan security guards, that is?
Unidentified Orion Male: Yeah, those are his favorite. He keeps them loyal with Purple Dust.
Commander Raj: Purple Dust. Thank you. I think we have all the information we need. Your cooperation will be noted, and rewarded
