Dawned in his yellow technical coveralls, Joe strolls into the shuttle bay carrying a tool kit in his hand, along with an old mp3 player stashed in one of his pocket. Heading towards the Rocinante he noticed a couple of shuttle techs were giving him odd looks in which the tall ensign simply smiled with a nod upon reaching the gunship.
"Right sweetheart, let's get some work done on ya eh?" He pulls a PADD out and inputs a five digit code to unlock the Roci's door. The PADD chirps with confirmation allowing the door to open followed by a ramp sliding out. Joe enters the craft ducking his head slightly then closing the door behind him. He sets the tool kit in the center and walks over to the helm tapping a few commands to bring systems online.
Joe sighs then looks up at the ceiling. "Computer when was the last scheduled maintenance for this shuttle?"
The computer chirps. "Last maintenance logged was stardate 31912.8."
As the ensign whistles softly and looks around the aged Duranium/Tritanium hull, he strolls over to the tool kit and pops it open. "Computer run a level three diagnostic on the Rocinante and relay the information to my PADD."
Joe glances at the PADD once it chirps, revealing five highlighted sections that needed attention. One section he noticed was a leak in the starboard plasma distribution manifold.
"Hmm, not surprising given her last maintenance was almost ten years ago. I wonder when you propped up..." He grabs an optronic coupler along with a phase decompiler and makes his way to the section. The starboard manifold was located near the aft section of the Roci. Joe pulls his tricorder out and begins to scan the panel covering it.
"Yep your leaking alright. Well dad, time to put your engineering lessons to work once more."
Joe sighs as he removes the panel, setting it on the deck while waving the venting gas out of his face. Once it clears, the ensign gets straight to work in repairing the plasma leak. After fixing the manifold Joe runs a scan to confirm the repair then puts the panel back over it. He then glances at his PADD taking note of the remaining sections, one of which is the computer core. The ensign taps it and frowns when it informs him that its only operating at fifty percent capacity.
"How the hell is this thing able to function...thank the stars we didn't get into combat." Joe mutters as he strolls over to the computer core. The core was located on the port side slightly underneath the helm. He taps a small console and the access panel slides open. Instantly he notices a small isolinear chip that has been lodged into one of the power conduits.
"Well...you don't see that everyday. Your certainly full of all sorts of surprises eh girl?" He says as he looks up at the ceiling then pulls out a laser cutter. Joe gently removes the chip and finishes the repairs utilizing the optronic coupler. He scans the blue isolinear chip with his tricorder and perks a non-Vulcan like eyebrow. The scans indicated that the chip contained an encrypted message with a Starfleet serial number.
Joe sighs heavily and slides the chip into his pocket. While working on finishing the rest of the repairs his mind was focused on what that message could contain. After the repairs were complete he then decided to fix the issue of weapons getting power from engines and changing it to auxiliary. Once finished, the ensign wipes a drop of sweat of his brow. Joe picks up his tool kit and glances around the Rocinante before finally exiting the craft.
