Personal Log, Stardate 40147.41

It’s been a little over 24 hours since our arrival at Hayara. Tirik introduced us to his parents and
two siblings, a brother and a sister. Everyone seems very welcoming, which makes a change
from our mission in the Payez. The food’s great too! They gave us this thing called a ‘Rakiba’,
which was like… Well, I’m not too sure what it was like, but I’m fairly sure it was all vegetables
and it tasted amazing. Kinda spicy, with a tang left in your mouth afterwards.
I met the lead archaeologist at the temple complex today, Professor Harjin, and the head of the
linguistics team, Doctor Kejata. The professor seems a little severe, wanting to keep track of
whatever’s happening, all the time, but Kejata is lovely. She has a fantastic sense of humour
too, which always helps. I’ll be heading to the site itself early tomorrow, so I’m going to get an
early night!
