Personal Log: Stardate 40889.9, Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyr th’Vovass, U.S.S. Boston

Kyr is sitting at his desk, still in his dress uniform, staring off into the middle distance; his quarter’s silent and dark.

“The promotion ceremony for Elise, Tirik, Corine and I went off without a hitch, it was a pleasant and cozy affair in the Common. However it was the afterparty, also held in the Common, that the trouble began…”
Kyr sighs, and his eyes drift over to a large landscape painting of the harsh and treacherous Bevassa mountain range on Andor, memories of his early teens spent climbing and hiking in that range play in his mind.

“Well, we went to the bar to celebrate my promotion and to also celebrate Joe asking the Captain to officiate the wedding aboard the Boston, which the Captain accepted. Taka brought out some Orion whiskey and to my surprise, T’Char also decided to drink with us. She had some trouble drinking it down but I suggested that she also order a glass of water to help water it down some and to fight the burn. Now that I think about it, she blushed green in the ears when I clapped her on her shoulder…”

Kyr eyes then drifts over to a figure sculpture of a sleekly plump Andorian woman, a gift from his Chan father, who is a well-known famous sculptor on Andor. Kyr recalls when Kyss ch’Vovass taught him how to sculpt when he was a small child, his lessions always taught with a knowing smile and easy laughter as Kyss helped make his first sculptures.

“It was when Joe challenged Taka to a drinking contest that the night turned. H’Rilla, the CMO, was able to talk them into who would down Taka’s strongest drink the fastest, limiting it to only three shots…Like an idiot I decided to join in, and so did Elise and T’Char. It was during the contest that the trouble began. Elise won, Joe fell asleep almost as soon as he finished the drinks, while I forgot about the contest because T’Char took one shot and almost fell out of her chair…”

Kyr leans back in his chair staring up at the ceiling, pausing for a moment, trying to choose his words and organize his thoughts.

“I moved quickly and helped her sit up while fortunately Zax quickly made her way to T’Char’s other side….and then T’Char started to speak in Vulcan as we made our way to sickbay and to a biobed. I was trying to comfort her by holding her hand and stroking her arm, telling her that she will be alright…I tried to not make it obvious that I understood the gist of what she was saying but I think she figured it out that while not really fluent, I understood enough. I don’t want to harm my friendship with T’Char, I don’t want to embarrass her and spook her off. I was flattered by what she was saying…I would rather not repeat what she said even in a personal log. I can blame the drink and forget what she said but I can’t deny that I am intrigued by her. I think I will take it slow, I don’t want to rush things and see how it turns out, either way I want to maintain my friendship with her…”
