Stardate 40888.5 (2363-Jan-14 | 1330 hrs) - Personal Log, Lt JG Elli Vos

Posted on 29 Jul 2020 @ 4:22pm by Lieutenant JG Elli Vos

Doors slid open with a slight hiss, then closed the same way again as a person entered the quarters. Silence follows for a few seconds, then the sound of a PADD being dropped carelessly on the table can be heard and someone lets themselves drop on the couch.

Elli just finished her shift and went straight from the bridge to her quarters. With all the events of late, and still a lot on the table, she was getting exhausted. The Trill woman kicked open a small case that was under her glass table, revealing a poker set, easily capable of supporting 10 players.

"Computer, record personal log." The chime of the computer indicated she was allowed to start her log. "Personal log, Elli Vos, Boston helm officer. -sigh- I've been here for over a month now, and we've gone through a few hells already. The crew is great. Joe's a nice guy, about to get married, too. Helped me back on Trill with hoverboarding. May have to invite him to the holodeck for a round of badminton maybe. Carmen's a nice one, too, a bit shy maybe. But I haven't found an actual place for myself yet. I work on the bridge, which is a privilege, granted, but this crew seems like a tight family."

"I need to budge in more. Interact more." She stopped and took a deep breath, followed by an equally deep sigh. "It's tough to get to learn new people. It's like an isolinear chip is trying to get plugged into a full console. I might overthink it, I don't know yet. These new shuttles that are coming aboard tomorrow might do the trick. I should volunteer to help fix one up. Not much of an engineer, but I know my way around a navigation system."

The sound of metal scraping over glass cut through the log as Elli picked her PADD up. "Got a copy of that possible ion trail Carmen found. The captain asked us to try and think up a way to scan for it without raising suspicion. My suggestion to the others was to scan for the absense of matter, rather than to try and find a hint of the presence of a ship. Like with water. Don't look for the mast of a boat, look for the gap in the water where there is no water. The boat displaces it, after all. Well, I suppose I'll work on this later tonight. First off, though, I'll need some food, and Greek sounds just like what I need today." Muffled sounds come up as Elli gets up and a clack follows the PADD being dropped on the table again. "First thing tomorrow, I'll ask Demarcus if he can get me in on the shuttle project. For now, dinner time. Computer, end log."
