Personal Log, Ensign K'Rosu, 41567.8

“S-start log now, please...N-need to get this recorded b-before I forget…”

“S-so, high energy, l-like high velocity, particles do n-not transfer all of their energy on th-the first thing they met, if th-that was the case, paper c-could deflect gamma rays… The level of energy they c-can deposit is limited b-by the density of what they hit, and their own state of energy. Th-this can be seen in the ancient human event of Antoli Burgorski of the United Soviet Socialist Republics, who was hit in the head b-by a particle stream from a particle accelerator. Th-the particles were moving n-near light speed, and were dangerous, b-but he survived, because they m-moved so fast, most of their energy passed r-right through him.”

K’Rosu pours himself a cup of K’Rosujino, and adds a bit of nutmeg extract to experiment.

“Tachyons however, m-move faster than the s-speed of light naturally. One of my professors once s-said, every obstacle c-can be turned into an advantage, if you’re c-clever enough. M-my idea? Use th-their shielding against them. An intense tachyonic s-stream, accelerated further by project Kea-09, I d-doubt could be s-stopped by ruhansan shielding. W-we have scans of their ships, if we send a tachyon s-stream, calibrated c-correctly, the very hulls, decks, and sh-shielding could be used t-to slow down the particles enough t-to deposit enough of their energy t-to cause a chain-reaction destabilization, t-turning not only their ships against their weapons, b-but the weapon against itself!”

He sits down, taking a sip from his K’Rosujino as he begins typing.

“Th-the best part, is, this sh-shouldn’t hurt the crews of the ships. W-we could give enough leeway to ensure this s-stream would pass through them, even towards the far side of their ship, th-that they could naturally be unhurt, or at least have a s-simple recovery. Hmm, if we know th-the distance, modification of wave frequency, period, amplification, we could t-try and have it...Converge on th-the weapons storages, and diverge everywhere else…”

He stands again, filling the fresh K’Rosujino into a large thermos.

“C-computer, end log, I n-need to get back to work...Th-thank you computer.”

K’Rosu quickly is out the door, and dashing back to engineering.
