Personal log, ensign Grei Liarro, stardate 40405.25. I'm liking this assignment much better than the Athens, I've made friends, and my captain seems to respect his crew just as they respect him. I could do without almost being forced into a war however. The distance from inhabited planets is soothing to my mind, the noise is so quiet out here, just the voices on the ship, as opposed to the torrent of thoughts in a city or on a planet. The replicators don't quite get the taste of red beans exactly right, but they're decent enough. Better than those colored cubes on the Athens, that old captain wouldn't put anything newer than 2300 on that ship. Three of the other crewmembers seem to have taken a liking to me, and I've taken a liking to them as well. I've had one say I was flirting with them, typical of those who aren't familiar with betazoids, but I wasn't, I was merely complementing her on her legs. Human prudishness is still funny to me. It's so blatant what they want, but they hide it behind some false narrative of purity. I hear what they think, they don't bother hiding it. I think I'll enjoy this assignment, maybe I'll get a promotion finally. On a more personal note, it's nice having my own quarters, I can express myself however I want in here, within reason of course. The bed's tall enough for me too, which is always a plus. Hopefully this place will work out better than my last posting.
