Personal Log Stardate 41385.1

After spending the past hour and a half cleaning out his quarters, Joe took one last look at them and sighed. As he was about to leave he noticed he left something on his desk. The newly promoted Lieutenant set his doufle bag down and walked over to pick up a small photo. He smiled at the image which contained a young six year old Joe and his human parents before they left for the USS Aladdin's final mission. Joe stuffed the photo in his bag, as he picked it up he called for lights off and walked out of his old quarters with Thor trotting close by.

Luckily the Lieutenant's new quarters were on the same deck just several sections away. His walk was interrupted when he felt his PADD vibrate. Joe sighed and pulled the device from his pocket to see that it was a call from his step-mother. He stared at it for a moment perking an eyebrow as it was usually rare to recieve calls from her. Without hesitating the Lieutenant answered it and an elderly Andorian woman with dark blue skin appeared.

Joe smirked "Vela...I take it you recieved the vid of the promotion ceremony?" He knew she didn't like it when he referred to her by her first name.

The andorian frowned slightly and rolled her eyes before replying "Yes, Joseph...I did. I called to congratulate you, your father would be proud. I know your grandparents are. However I will say your sister Tozia is very jealous right now."

The tall human laughed at that and smiled. "She should be, Tozia is still a fresh nugget of an Ensign. How's retirement treating you mom?"

As he continued walking Joe noticed Vela's antennae droop down and the woman sighed heavily. "I admit...it is rather boring without your father now. Your uncle offered me a position at Ang Terminal which I declined. I can't bear the thought of leaving Earth ever since we moved here. Even though I still hate the heat out here in Las Vegas, we've adapted to it."

Joe chuckles softly as he remembers the first time he visited his grandparents and couldn't stand the heat. He nodded at a group of officers walking past him as he made his way down the corridor. The Lieutenant glanced back at the PADD.

"How's Zyvia holding up? I know Tiv is still working at Utopia."

Vela smiled . "Perhaps you should call her, Zyvia has some news that might make your day even brighter. How's your new career treating you?"

Upon reaching his new quarters Joe sighs and leans against the bulkhead. "I actually love it...a couple days ago I managed to save the Boston after one of her thrusters misfired and put us into a flat spin. Kept her from going into the asteroids near us. Of course...I did have help from the folks in engineering."

The andorian nodded and sighed softly. "Well...never a dull moment on the Boston after what you've been telling me these past two years hmm? I must be going now, I'm supposed to be helping a neighbor set up a party."

Joe chuckled "Don't have too much fun now mom. I hope to hear from you again."

At that moment, the woman nodded with a smile before ending the call. Joe glanced down at Thor who was sitting next to him and gestured for the dog to move into the quarters. Upon entering the human called for lights. Joe sighed upon seeing the rest of his luggage lying around that needed to be unpacked. The Lieutenant walked to his bed and set the doufle on it before flomping onto it. He turned on his back and sat up.

"Home sweet home..."
