Personal Log, Stardate 40864.9

Jaya muttered the words that began the log as she sat on the holodeck, gazing at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vaari Temple from a nearby bench. She had a small sketchbook in which she was sketching the temple.

"I find sketching to be a calming activity. It helps me focus on the issues at hand," she quietly spoke as she continued to draw.

"I may have missed out on our initial encounter with this Romulan, but I'll be sure to finish the job that my predecessor began. She won't get away with our secrets again, that's for sure."

She continued to sketch, frowning when she drew a line slightly off. She flipped her pencil around and began to erase a bit as she continued to speak.

"I hope we can get a good First Contact in soon. Or maybe a nice planet survey. I'd like to be in a command position where life and death was not being determined with every breath I took. But, I suppose, if I wanted that I shouldn't have joined Starfleet. I knew what I was signing up for."

She shook her head finally and placed the book beside her, along with the pencil, before saying, "Computer, freeze program."

She looked aside for a few moments as she thought about where to go next, before finally saying, "I think it's time to take another look at those sensor readings. Computer, end program and end log."
