|| Personal Log, Lieutenant JG Church, Chief of Security, Federation Starship Boston ||

After a short transit, the Boston has arrived on Trill. With the department restocked and the new recruits settling in, Assistant Chief th’Vovass and I have successfully transferred Christina Santori to the Inspector General’s office. Remarkable woman, actually. Shame about all the crime.

John stops moving and raises both eyebrows. He’s in the middle of his quarters, halfway through changing into appropriate beach attire, and has a colourful shirt in one hand. There’s a short pause in the audio-only log. He thinks for a second or two before pulling on the shirt and carrying on about his business.

Pity we didn’t get a chance to really talk.

He frowns as he folds some of the clothes strewn about the bed and stores them in the nearby locker.

During our initial briefing before beaming planetside, Mr. th’Vovass informed me of a distressing security matter with potentially huge ramifications for Starfleet. I won’t record the details here, but - for the record - we informed both the Inspector General’s office and our own commanding officers immediately upon the conclusion of our official business. The eye-gee officer on duty recommended Kyr return in the morning to make a statement. His lack of alarm is either suspicious, or unacceptably lazy, and due to the sensitive nature of the evidence in Kyr’s possession, I believe him to be in some danger.
The Captain approved the security measures I put forward; we’ll maintain a transporter lock on Kyr’s combadge should we need to get him out in a hurry, and security team four will be standing by to beam in if necessary. Just in case, I’ll be out of sight nearby with a couple of security crewmen and a medic. If these precautions turn out to be unnecessary, and I hope they do, then it’ll be like we were never there.

John closes the locker and moves to the beside table, where he picks up and finishes what looks like a half-empty glass of orange juice.

I’ll be beaming back down shortly to attend the beach party everyone seems so exited about. Meanwhile, I still have to officially brief our new junior officers. I’m not sure I can relax with this going on... but on the other hand, I might not have to stare at a PADD for a day or two. That’d be nice.

Having tidied the glass away, he heads for the door.

Computer, end log and encrypt with a level three clearance code.

There’s a mechanical beep, and then the sound of a clearance code being entered into an LCARS interface. The long ends here.
