Back to work

Posted on 31 Jul 2020 @ 12:51am by Ensign Kelley Brevo

*After the last log, Ensign Kelley Briana Brevo washes up and takes some time to rest. During her rest she goes over the next phase of construction for the still unnamed shuttle. The drive to build this shuttle has consumed her and she would not have it any other way. She finally sets down the PADD and gets some much needed sleep*

-Next day after shift-

*Upon completing her shift in engineering, Kelley would return to her quarters to change into something more appropriate for the job at hand. The damaged plasma injector on her desk is now in full working order which she brings with her to the shuttle bay where the new shuttle is being constructed. Much later she would return to her quarters covered with grease and grime again to record her next log*

Computer. Begin log.

While I was working in engineering, a few of the off duty engineers volunteered their time to get the hull assembled and ready for further building. I must admit, I am quite impressed by the speed our crew can get things done when they put their minds to it. After my shift I arrived in the shuttle bay to see the finishing touches to the primary hull. I thanked everyone and got to work on the next stage of the build with another set of volunteer engineers as well as a few science officers to tweak some of the settings once we start getting the consoles plugged into the warp core. During the installation of the quad impulse engines, one of the Ensigns, (I always forget his name) showed me a way to add some extra armor to the engines without effecting weight or integrity of the joints. I'm gonna have to ask his name again next time I see him and buy him a drink.

The impulse engines went in without any issues as well as the nacelles. We then started to piece together the dual warp core. A few questioned the need for it at first, but came around once they started to see it come together. Plasma injectors installed and aligned as well as the warp coils. The dilithium crystal converter assembly is put into place for each core then external casing is put around it.

While we finished up the core, another team was getting the consoles set up and plugged into the conduit network. The ship is coming together but is far from being able to fly. With the consoles now in place however, we can activate the warp core and tweak the settings for the matter/antimatter mixtures as well as sync the two cores to work in unison. And just like that... purrs like a kitten. There are a few tweaks that will need to be made now that we have a physical version running. Scans have been recorded and are being reviewed by the science officers at this time. We shut the warp core down and did a bit of celebrating in The Common. While the ship is not done, what we have done is quite the accomplishment and I am proud to be part of such an amazing crew. We will take a break tomorrow to catch up on some rest and bounce ideas off each other on what our next steps should be.

End of Log.
